December 22nd
Read: 1 John 1:5-10
The world was in a darkened condition that first Christmas, with sin and wrong abounding just as it seems to be today. There is a difference, however, because on that first Christmas, God sent the Light to overcome the darkness, and that Light, the Lord Jesus Christ, still shines today. No longer does man have to stumble around in darkness looking for familiar signs to guide him through an emptiness of loneliness. Jesus was born in Bethlehem!
Jesus suffered and died for our sins! Jesus rose from the dead!
THE LIGHT IS ON!
That makes all the difference.
GRAY MORN OF WINTER
Black night of winter
Fades into gray.
Sky and snowy fields become a unity
Fused on the horizon,
A tangible pall o’er the world,
Accented by stark trees
And slanted fence-posts
Poking their way through the fabric
of morning
And bringing some sense of the familiar
To the palpable void.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for Jesus, the Light of the World. Help me to walk in His Light.
