Read: John 3:32-36; Rom. 3:28; 1 Pet. 5:6-7; John 3:16-18

My dear Bible School teacher, Eli Kauffman, used to tell us that we have been set free from the law in order to be free to do right. In other words, while we are free from the bondage of sin and the terrors of death as sin’s penalty, there are God-assigned limits to our behavior if we are to follow and serve the Lord Jesus Christ as He desires.

We can be confident in our new freedom from fear that wherever Jesus leads we may safely follow. The world system would set limits everywhere, but the believer can live above those limits and know the bright truths of God’s Word as flashlights on a dark path. We are truly blessed with such liberty.

UNBOUND AND UNFETTERED
Unbound and unfettered,
My spirit soars free
Beyond the horizons
The world says must be,
Where love knows no bondage
Or uncertainty.
Gossamer sunbeams
Bright wings are for me,
Absorbing, reflecting
My soul’s ecstacy,
Where high above rainbows
God’s glory I see.
Now e’en as I witness
His bright verity
And worship before Him
In humility,
His glory doth pierce through
My human degree
To shed light within,
Light to permeate me
And to show me the secret
Of faith’s golden key
That unlocks the portals
Of eternity.

Prayer: Father, help me to use Your Word as my guidebook for life.
