June 13th

Read: 1 Corinthians 3:11-15; John 6:37-40; Psalm 34:17-22

God doesn’t waste a thing in His economy of things! The food chain is an example of that. The cycle of water’s evaporation and condensation is another. He didn’t want old Jezebel to be remembered in any kindly way because of her great wickedness, but He made use of her anyway. Read 2 Kings 9:30-37 to see how dogs ate her body and she became dung in the fields to fertilize the soil! See what I mean? Nothing wasted.

It is the same in one’s spiritual life. Nothing is wasted. The events in any lifetime are used by God to bring a sinner to Jesus, to restore a Christian to fellowship, to bring judgement when necessary, to teach, to correct, to instruct, and in the end to bless. First we must be brought to our knees in His presence, then built up in Christ, then shown the paths of service so that there will be no loss.

THE ORDER OF THINGS
Of the clouds of blooms on the cherry tree
And the myriad fishes in the sea,
Only a few will the banquet see;
But the blossoms serve as the food for bees,
And the fish are preserved from the winter’s freeze,
And even a king must seek his knees.
God has the power to consume the dross,
But He wills to count not a thing as loss,
So the lowliest sinner can come to the cross.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to respond rightly to all Your lessons in my life so that I might not be loss to You.
