Read: Psa. 28:7; 40:5; 104:24-28; Phil. 4:19

The Blue Heron strutted slowly along the shoreline in the shadow of the overhanging willows, then stepped up onto the dock, which pushed out into the serene lake. The water perfectly mirrored his parade as he walked to the end and stepped on the last board, looking like a frock-coated parson approaching his pulpit to being his Sunday sermon. His baleful eyes searched the water for several minutes, but, seeing nothing worthy of his attention, he returned to the shore to continue his morning hunt.

His interruption of my talk with God had been silent and brief, and had added a special dimension to my quiet hour, some heart laughter which left a smile to bless my day. Oh, Lord, help me to see Thy serene and ordered world as You intend it to be, a treasure chest of provision for all Thy creatures. Let me, like Parson Heron, look expectantly to see Thy love working for my good and then be joyful with thanksgiving when I see it.

LAUGHTER
Oh, come and walk with God and me
Through one delicious day
As we, in close affinity,
Commune and talk and play.

Our laughter is the special part.
Mine bubbles from within
And His springs from His loving heart
Where all good things begin.

I laugh to see Him push a cloud
Like a galleon through the sky,
Only to shred it as a crowd
Of others come sailing by.

My laughter swells as Jay bird scolds,
Our interruption tells,
And as our day of joy unfolds,
My heart with rapture swells.

I realize His laughter comes
From His delight and joy
That I desire His heart to plumb,
His love-laws to employ.

We laugh together, God and I,
As through our day we go.
I find His presence ever nigh
For ‘tween us love doth flow.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for Your gifts of joy and fellowship and laughter. Thank You for Your provision of all my needs.
