December 9th
Read: Matthew 24,30-31; 1 Thessalonians 4:17; Revelation 19:11-16
Big events . . . the time the governor of our state rode by our house when I was a kid and waved at my sister and me sitting on the terrace in front of the house. We remember big events like Pearl Harbor Day, V-J Day and the Kennedy assassination. We recall where we were and what we were doing and how we felt.
There is a big event coming in God’s scheme of things. It is called the Rapture of the Church of Jesus Christ. It will overshadow any event in history with the exception of His nativity, death on the cross, and resurrection. We, as believers, should be watching expectantly for it.
When He came the first time, “He came unto His own and His own received Him not.” (John 1:11) This time when He comes, His own will meet Him In the air! What an event that will be.
THE BIG EVENT
Events which stir the soul and heart,
Which memory ‘broiders on the mind
And puts in chamber kept apart
Where one can always seek and find,
Such happenings we will disdain
When our peculiar hope we see,
When Jesus Christ shall come again
To lead His saints in victory.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that I will be watching and waiting expectantly for You, ready to be caught up in that ‘twinkling of an eye.’
