Read: Matthew 6:25-34Matthew 4:1-11

Have you ever noticed how complicated our lives become? It was the same when Jesus walked in Galilee. Folks then wanted more than the necessities of life just as we do now. Jesus chose to live the simple life. He had little of this world’s goods, and He could have had it all! Wasn’t He God’s Son?

John Wesley lived in eighteenth-century England in a society even more complicated than Judea in the first century. He chose to travel around the United Kingdom on his horse with only eating utensils, extra undergarments, and his Bible! He preached as he went, depending on God to supply his every need. He had no comfort zone of his own except his Savior.

George Muller ran a Christian orphanage in London. Often the children would be at the table waiting for food when there was none to serve them. Mr. Muller would thank God for His supply, and there would be a knock on the door … someone with food or the money to purchase it! These folks risked much on their faith in God. Couldn’t we risk more? Shouldn’t we?

SOME FOLKS

Some folks need solace and comfort,
And these both are good, I agree,
But I need Thy hand, Lord, to prod me
To set sail on my destiny.

Some folks need peace and green pastures
Where Thou, Lord, encompass their need,
But I need a field that lies fallow
And strength to sow Thy precious seed.

Some folks need snug, tranquil harbors
Where ships always lie in the lee,
But I need a skiff and a life-line
And a cargo to carry for Thee.

Some folks need great expectations
Before they risk loving for Thee;
I just need the patience to wait, Lord;
I know that Thine increase will be.

Some folks need sight of a beacon
To find their way over the sea,
But, Lord, keep my eyes set on Jesus.
His cross is sufficient for me.

Prayer: Dear Lord, forgive me for not trusting Thee more each day. Please bounce me out of my comfort zones and help me to risk all for Thee.
