August 11th

Read: Isaiah 35:10; Psalm 40:1-5; Psalm 139:1-6

Music is a great portion of my life, and my Song is Jesus, for He is all and in all. Sometimes my Song is plaintive, sometimes restless, often praiseful and joyful, because Jesus
identifies with my very being and goes with me through all of life’s ups and downs.
The day my first husband was buried my two sons, one only twelve years old, sang with me all the way to the funeral service. We sang the old hymns of the faith, “The Solid Rock”,
“The Old Rugged Cross”, “Trust and Obey”, and others. I will never forget that day, not because my husband was laid to rest, but because our sons were able to join in with my Song and me to express our trust in Him.

MY SONG IN THE NIGHT
My Song in the night,
That haunting sweet song,
With the coming of light
Brings gladness along.

It fills the dark hours
With melody sweet
And though sadness lowers,
My heart’s needs `twill meet.

Thou art my refrain,
Thou Jesus, my Lord,
My beautiful strain,
My sustaining chord.

For Thou art my Song,
Every night, every day,
Welling forth, surging strong,
With me all of life’s way.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for being my Song. Please help others to hear You through me.
