Read: Psa. 36:5-10; John 7:37-39; Rev. 22:1-5; John 1:1-5
The writer of John’s Gospel equates life and light (1:4) in a way that expresses the totality of both as being Christ Jesus. David wrote of this precious life as a fountain. It will never fail; it will never lessen in any way, for it flows from the Source of all life and light.
It is all there for God’s purposes in His universe, in this world, in our lives. His life is eternal and perpetual. How can we doubt it? How can anyone say, “The grave is the end of life?” Can we deny that “the corn of wheat must die to bring forth fruit?”
No, the fountain of life fails not. It pours through the dark passage we call death to erupt in resurrection on the other side, Love’s work completed.
LIGHTED FOUNTAIN
The fountain of life fails not,
Fails not because ’tis sprung from Thee.
It pours Thy Spirit into the stream
That flows to the waiting sea,
And there it gathers to bestow,
To bestow to the needy world,
The bright and sparkling gift it brings,
The light of Thy love unfurled.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I thank You for showing us death as a passage to more life than we’ve known this side of Heaven. Thank You for Your Lighted Fountain.
