May 14th

Read: Psalm 119:1-2 and Proverbs 27:1

Do you ever think of each day as a love-gift from God? Even when I have maintained a schedule or a routine, I have often been surprised by something outside my own plans that has blessed me. Little events catch my attention and draw me into thinking of my Heavenly Father. I am lifted in the middle of a routine day to praise Him.

SURPRISES
Each day brings some bright promise
And often a surprise,
A gift from God, our Father,
As His love opens our eyes.

A friendly face comes smiling
And on our heart’s door knocks,
Or a hummingbird comes flitting
Around the window box!

The yellow-green of willows
Softens gray March skies,
Or white cocoons amaze us
By discharging butterflies!
The happy concentration
Of a baby with his blocks
Reveals endless creation
As the future’s door unlocks.

Autumn fires the valley
Capped with bright blue skies
As wheeling flight of mallards
Joins goose-migration cries.

As people come to touch us,
As Nature changes frocks,
Each day becomes a love-gift
In a bright, beribboned box.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for each day I have been given. Help me to see them all as Yourl love-gifts to me.
