While we were in England, we saw that psychiatrists and mental institutions did everything in their power to tear down and undermine the faith of believers who were their patients in emotional trouble. Patients were often told that religious faith only confused their thinking! They have it backwards! The Word of God only clarifies one’s thinking. Spirituality is reality, and in it resides the healthy mind.

TEMPERATE CLIME
As the wind decides to leave the north
And rain through the frost doth creep,
As a warm spring day makes the leaves burst forth
And wakens the tulips from sleep,
So the climate of the mind controls
The things we do and say;
Its pleasant pastures feed our souls,
But its wastelands bring dismay.

When the mind is a jungle of anger and hurt
And the path hidden deep in the fronds,
When the heart with the vines of guilt is girt,
The flesh to the climate responds
And the soul is crowded from the way
That the searching one would go,
And he must wade through old decay
Where progress is always slow.

In the temperate climate of God’s Word
The mind finds fresh, clean air,
And a wafted breeze by His hand bestirred
Brings release from burden and care;
And as we dwell in that wondrous clime
Where life is a flowing stream,
We are healed and given His full time
To worship, to serve, to dream.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your Word and the realities laid out in it. It is every bit as pertinent to me as it was to those whom Your Holy Spirit moved to pen it. Help me to speak peace to those who are troubled in mind and spirit.
