Read: 2 Peter 1:3-4, 9 : Colossians 3:2;    2 Timothy 1:1; Galatians 4:28

Promises … We, as parents, often make them without being able to predict the future and its difficulties. “I promise we will go on a picnic on Saturday” … but the rains come or the
car breaks down, and the promise is not kept. “I promise that you will have some new clothing for school.” … but Dad gets laid off, or the hot water tank must suddenly be replaced, and the money for school clothes is not there to use.

God’s promises, however, are never broken. He is faithful to keep every one. Why? How? First because each promise is wise and good, and He knows the future. Secondly, He is the Source of all things … provision, health, even life itself. Thirdly, He is all-powerful. No one or no thing can prevent His fulfilling each promise in His way and in His time. When God
makes a promise, He keeps it.

PROMISES
God keeps His promises in sight.
We see them all unfurled
If we look to our horizon
Up and out beyond the world.

He flings the pale-hued rainbow
High-arched ‘cross darkened sky,
A promise old as Noah,
That says He’s ever nigh.

When promise of the sun glints bright
Upon the coldest morn
To sparkle frost-rimed branches,
Joy’s wonderland is born.

And as we daily seek to find
New blessings in His grace,
We see the promise beckon
In the smile on a stranger’s face.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You that Your Word is sure. When it is given, it cannot be changed. Help me, Father, to be wiser in making promises.
