February 1st

Read: Ephesians 5:15-20; Colossians 4:5-6; Psalm 90:12-17

A well-spent day is a real treasure to me. The satisfaction of relationships in right order, jobs well-done, and personal needs tended to give me a sense of peace and order which tends to a restful sleep. When I allow God to spend my day, He enables me in all areas to give my very best. Often He calls me from personal pursuits to help another or to reach out in some way to those around me. Always His priorities become the true pleasures of my day when I obey Him.

IN GENTLE KINDNESS GIVEST THOU

In gently kindness givest Thou
the moments of a day well-spent;
Thy love enlarges me somehow
as I for Thee, by mercy bent,
reach out.

I see Thanksgiving light a face
or friendly gesture spark a smile,
for daily, as I run my race,
Thy strength lets me the extra mile..
run out.

Oh, as I touch another’s hand,
that touch in turn becomes a gift,
and as my day runs out its sand,
all worldly cares are cut adrift..
cast out.

In gentle kindness givest Thou
a peaceful night that I might rest.
By giving all, Thou dost allow
Thy child to give beyond his best..
all out.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please spend my day for me that I might be more aware of Your priorities.
