Read: Ephesians 5:22-23 and Matthew 13:10-17

I can understand the disciples’ impatience to know everything which Jesus knew. I want to know too, but we can handle only small doses of spiritual knowledge at a time. Did you ever think what would happen if God revealed the absolute and total depth of our sin all at once, for instance? At the moment of our salvation to know such would surely discourage us.

The Holy Spirit must deal with one matter at a time, and we often have a difficulty even with that . God’s infinite knowledge is for Him to use in His way and in His time. I am glad that He has some mysteries.

GOD’S MYSTERIES
Oh God, deep are Your mysteries,
The secrets of Your way,
The future’s joys and sorrows,
The firmament’s display.

Man’s mind knows much of healing,
But not what triggers birth
Nor why the winds shift patterns
On their circling ’round the earth.

Man cannot plumb the instincts
Of a migratory flight
Nor understand the reason
Why death prefers the night.

Your mysteries are deep, oh God,
But the deepest one I know
Is why, with all my sinful ways,
You still do love me so!

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for loving me enough to reveal Your mysteries only when the time is for my best and Your glory. Help me to trust You fully even when I cannot see the way.
