Read: Isaiah 6:1-8; Acts 26:19-23; Romans 8:28

When God puts a prayer in one’s heart and a resolve to obey in one’s will, things begin to happen. In the spring of 1978, when I wrote the poem below, I was not free to go anywhere for Him except just next door. I was married to a business man and was his partner in the trucking business which we ran. I had a ten-year-old son to raise. My prayer, however, was honest and heartfelt. God began to work through what seemed at the time to be tragic circumstances … the death of my husband two years later and the closing of the business which had been in the family since 1917. Then God brought John into my life, John in whom God was working to bring him to the point of saying, “Send me, Lord.” When he did that, we were married and we began to attend Bible School to prepare us for the Lord”s service wherever He might send us. By January of 1988, with Jim in college and on his own, we were missionaries in England! Not quite ten years after my prayer … in God’s time and in His way, not ours. God answers heart-felt prayers.

SEND ME!
Send me, Lord,
To tell Thy Word,
That Thy good news
May then be heard
By those whose paths cross mine.

Send me far,
If that must be,
To share Thy love
And grace so free
With those Thou would’st refine.

Send me, Lord,
Though just next door,
With love to share
To underscore
The message that my life is Thine.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please get hold of my heart and my will, and change my life to go in Your direction for my good and Your glory.
