Sunday worship … In our town there was once a time when if the family car was parked at home during Sunday service hours, people were certain that there was sickness or trouble in that home. Nearly everyone attended Sunday worship. That is no longer true. Nowadays one sees more people mowing their lawns or washing their cars than there are attending church, and if the family car is away, the family is more apt to be camping than in church!
Our Lord wants us to set aside one day a week for Him, a day to remember who He is and what He has done for us. In the assembling of ourselves together to worship Him, we have the added benefits of hearing the Word preached, praising Him through song, and being with those who love and serve Him and who love and pray for us. The relationship connections among God’s children are the strongest ones in the world, and the most beneficial for all. I just cannot afford to miss Sunday worship! Neither can you.
SUNDAY WORSHIP
`Tis family circle time once more
And, gathering close-knit all around,
We tell our troubles and restore
Our faith by sharing good we’ve found.
We place each other in God’s hands
So our hands will be ever free
To serve each other and expand
The mission of God’s family.
We seek His guidance as we part,
Each one to live his destined day,
Yet each one knowing that his heart
Walks not alone along the way.
`Tis family circle time once more
And, gathering close-knit all around,
We’ll stand upon God’s distant shore
Rejoicing with the friends we’ve found.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for the Lord’s Day each week. Help me to attend services with my spirit tuned to worship You and expecting to minister to others.
