God’s anointing. Holy Spirit power to serve. Some are anointed to preach, some to teach, some to heal. I have known anointed musicians, writers, and artists, mothers, fathers, grandparents. Each believer has been given a Spirit empowered gift to use in God’s purposes. The anointing oil is the Holy Spirit.

What are the properties of oil? It soothes painful surface problems It lubricates to enable smooth operation of various parts. It has healing properties. Can you understand why we need the oil of the Holy Spirit in our churches, in our families?

ANOINTED
Your unction flows to each true heart,
Infilling, dwelling, giving start
To love and mercy, each a part
Of service, peace and verity,
Of oil to calm the troubled sea,
To give each storm-tossed soul its lee
Where spark can turn to flame.

The oil and bread of life are Thine,
The healing pow’r in oil and wine.
Your oil of gladness makes us shine.
Thy children, sharing in Your light,
Spirit-filled and glowing bright,
Spill out o’er the dark-filled night,
Bright with oil-fed flame.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your anointing on my life. Help me to soothe those who are irritated, keep the church machinery well-oiled, and heal where there are blemishes in Your church. May my family, too, know Your anointing.
