December 4th

Read: 1 John 4:7-8, 16 and Matthew 11:28

Jesus always has the welcome-mat out. His invitation to come to Him is as valid today as it was when He walked this Earth. Just as a welcoming house is a place to rest, so is He. Just as a welcoming face shows forth joy to see you, so does His. On weary days or lonely ones, He is the place to go.

WELCOME IN
Some houses have a happy face,
A smiling welcome to the place,
A tended lawn, all smooth and green,
And windows shining bright and clean.

There are bright-hued flow’rs and cushioned
chairs
Inviting you to release your cares
There on the porch or deep in the shade
That a wide-spread tree has kindly made.

People can be like houses too,
Smiling a “welcome in” to you,
Havens of love that understand
And listen and offer a gentle hand.

‘Tis love that stands in the open door;
‘Tis love inviting you to explore
That friendly house and that happy face;
‘Tis love outpoured from God’s deep grace.

Prayer: Dear Lord, keep me coming to You on good days or ill.
