September 4th
Read: 2 Cor. 8:12; 1 Chronicles 29:5-9; Romans 12:1-2
Do you think of yourself as on an altar of sacrifice and ready to be used however God desires? That is consecration in the truest sense of the word. It is your availability which our Lord desires. It is not you telling Him what you are willing to do. Rather it is waiting upon Him and responding to His call, whatever it may be.
FATHER, I WILL
I lay on the altar my full-yielded life
And cry to Thee, “Father, I will
That Thou should’st but use me
Through battle and strife
That others might turn to Thee still.”
I’m bound on that altar, as Jesus was nailed,
And call to Thee, “Lord, I desire
The souls of my loved ones”,
For His blood availed,
And my yielded heart burns afire.
“My soul and my spirit are spent all for Thee,
And my will unites with Thine own,
That many may find Thee,
Because Thou’rt in me,
And may bloom from the seed I have sown.
“O, let me not flee from the flame as it burns,
For faithful I’d be … as Thy Son …
But let me rejoice in each loved one who turns
From sin unto Thee, Thy will done.”
Prayer: Dear Lord, transform my mind to understand Your will for me and to see the paths of service which lie before me.
