ONCE-IN-A-WHILE
Once-in-a-while I stop in my day
To listen to God and what He has to say.
Once-in-a-while I seek to find
A word from Him that will bless my mind,
But life seems tough.
Once-in-a-while a Christian friend
Will an encouraging message send.
Once-in-a-while I search God’s Word
To find something there which I’ve never heard,
But the path still seems rough.
Once-in-a-while in heartfelt prayer
I seek to know His presence there.
Once-in-a-while my heart will bend
Its resistance to love and adore my Friend,
But not often enough.
There are so many folk as we go along,
And the pull of the world is oft so strong,
And there’s work to do the live-long day,
So priorities often go astray
As I ‘guard the stuff’.
Lord, keep me seeking You more and more.
All Your priorities help me restore.
Help me listen obediently rather than speak.
Turn ‘once-in-a-while’ into ‘often I seek’.
Your grace is enough.
Prayer: Dear Lord, show me how to delight in You more and more so that Your priorities will become mine.
