Read: Psalm 57

One of the very human things which keeps Christians from a victorious life is the desire to hold the reins of our own lives. With our lips we tell God that we want His guidance, but in reality we often grab the reins from His hands to turn our lives into our own ways. Then we complain to Him when we go astray or something untimely occurs. He knows the way and what lies ahead. He knows where we need to be and when we should be there. We need to allow Him to hold the reins.

LET GO, LET GOD!
When fear holds sway
And anxiety strains
And turns your way
With its strong reins,
Let go, let God!
He’ll take fear away
So that peace enters in
And naught will dismay.

Take refuge in Him,
With His wings He will hide.
In calamities grim
He will ever abide.
Let go, let God!
He will free up your mind,
And assurance will come
Where once you were blind.

At each deep crevasse
Our Lord stands abreast.
All these things will pass.
And you’ll stand the test.
Let go, let God!
He’ll guide you along.
Let go, let God!
You’ll never go wrong.

Prayer: Dear God, forgive me for the desire to handle the reins of my life. Please, God, take that desire from me and show me where I need to let go so that You can get me safely where You want me to be.
