December 20th

Read: Matt. 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38 and Luke 2:1-20; John 1:1-14

Jesus’ birth was an eternal moment. It had been planned by the Father since before the beginning! Jesus had cooperated with Him through all the ages until it arrived. The angels recognized it as a significant moment as they brought the Father’s message to the shepherds in a field. Mary and Joseph had inclined their lives to this moment for long, sometimes difficult months. (Mary was an unwed mother-to-be until they were married.) Even now we look back at it with wonder, and it is celebrated around the world.

ETERNAL MOMENT
Magic moment,
Touched with light,
Wonder born
On starry night,
Angel chorus
From Heaven’s height
Proclaims God’s grace to maShepherds, dazzled
At the sight,
Magi following
Star so bright,
Gathered there
In awed delight,
Witness to God’s plan.

Faith eased Mary’s
Lonely plight;
Faith brought Joseph
To the site;
Faith kept them from
Herod’s spite
As, in fear, they ran.

Magic moment,
Come tonight.
To our hearts bring
Fresh delight.
Christ brings love and
Doth invite.
The ages He doth span.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your plan for eternity and Your eternal moment in Bethlehem.
