Read: Genesis 1 and Genesis 2: Col. 1:15-19
Did you ever wonder how it would be to live on a planet where there were only shifting sands or snow and ice? Or where water did not cover so much of the planet’s surface as it does here on Earth? Because God, the Creator, did His work with infinite wisdom and understanding, we live on a planet where perfect balance exists and will exist until He deems otherwise. Earth was created for human beings, for us, by our wise and loving God.
THIS WORLD OF OURS
This world of ours could be a place
With naught but shifting sand
Or snow and ice upon its face,
No mark ‘tween sea and land.
But God required a special scene
To implement His plan,
A garden spot, all fresh and green,
For His new creation … man.
So He devised with Wisdom deep
This place of beauteous worth,
This place where man can till and reap,
This lovely planet, Earth.
And then He gave man all he’d need
To keep him warm and fed;
Animals and fuel and seed
To grow his daily bread.
He gave men minds and hands to work;
He gave Earth beauty fair;
He gave man duty so he’d not shirk
And the promise that He is there.
So when storm comes and tears apart
And your body aches from toil,
Remember … but for God’s great heart
We would till but barren soil.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for our beautiful balanced world. Help me to appreciate its many facets and to understand my role in maintaining it to Your honor and glory.
