Read: Psalm 40:3 and Psalm 104:33-34; 1 Corinthians 13:12

There is nothing in life which can turn us away from God if we look at it against the backdrop of the cross. Whatever anyone can name as human tragedy pales into insignificance against the cross, because in the cross is the promise of God’s presence with us through all the difficult days. God’s love for us, always active, holds us fast to hope and courage and helps us to endure and even to praise Him in the troubles we experience.

For tender mercies Thou dost show,
For loving words which calm me so,
For breath of life that quickens me,
For Thine own blood which set me free
I raise my thanks and sing Thy praise,
A song to last me all my days
And then to sweeten in that place
Where I’ll meet Thee, Lord, face to face.
