August 4th

Read: John 10:9 and John 11:10; Psalm 40:2; John 4

There are many who seem lost to love. They rebel and bring heartache to their families. They abuse others and often themselves with self-destructive habits and addictions. They express anger against society because of wrong thinking. Wherever they go they seek something which they know not, for they are unfulfilled. The woman at the well in Samaria was love-lost, but Jesus’ great love sought her out and revealed Himself to her. She turned around in faith, accepted His love (which had been there all the time), and moved ahead in her life away from destructive involvements. Jesus is the door. Faith is the key.

MAZE
In Limbo’s halls the love-lost roam,
Searching for the heart’s true home,
Wandering hither and seeking yon,
Lacking rock to build upon.
Where they walk is shifting sand
Or deep morass or quaking land.
Never finding footing there,
Each halting step leads to despair.

But hold! All ye who search the night
Need only open your hearts to Light
To find within your verity,
Need only use true Faith’s bright key
To breach the one tight-fastened door
Which bars the love-bright corridor,
The true and rock-firm, Christ-paved way
That leads from dark to eternal day.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for being the essence of love and for showing Yourself to me. Help me to express my faith to others so that they might be `found’ by You.
