The bottom line of anyone’s life is the sum total of all the decisions, large or small, for good or for evil, which he makes as time tumbles him through its vortex of moments into the tunnel of eternity. It is when God is eliminated from the decision-making process that evil predominates and that the life of that person is singularly ineffective as a force for good in this world.
Often a snap decision is needed. No matter how great the intelligence, unless the mind is saturated with the knowledge of God’s Word and there is an acknowledgment of the Christ-mind as all-pervasive, self-will is apt to appropriate the hasty decision as its own, and good intentions are subverted. We should need no greater impetus for Bible study than this.
We should, as Christians, be so aware of God’s presence and guidance and good in our lives that His will might indeed be the only factor in our decision making at any given moment in time, because He is a part of us.
WAITING HEART
I wait each moment, Lord, for Thee.
Anticipation whets my mind,
For what You teach in love to me–
Your wisdom–gives light to the blind.
Beclouded vision is no more
When scales of self Thou dost remove;
Daring to move beyond fear’s door,
I learn Thy power and might to prove.
Spirit stirs and bends the heart
To listen, to capture every word,
Each thought a lesson to impart
New freedom and to undergird.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You that Your will is for my good and that Your Word and Your presence guide me in my decisions. Help me to yield to Your perfect will when it is shown unto me.
