Read: 2 Timothy 2:3; Matthew 10:22; Matthew 24: 13-14
The snail is not a much-loved creature. He is rather slimy and often invades a garden to the disgust of the gardener who finds his tender green leaves chewed away. He is, however slow he may be, a creature with perseverance. He keeps moving forward in an effort to reach his destination. In doing so he leaves behind on his path a trail easily seen by the watcher. He is a lesson in stick-to-itiveness, finding his way over or around impediments, enduring whatever time or effort is required to make his way to his goal.
Do I try like that? Do I endure like that?
Do you?
THE SNAIL
I saw a snail making tracks today
As he crept his slow creep upon his way.
He left a trail stretching far behind,
No matter whither his path would wind;
And as he went, I thought of me
Progressing slowly along for Thee,
And it helped me, Lord, (for I often fail)
To see that in trying I leave a trail.
Prayer: Dear Lord, keep me moving forward in Your direction for me. When my energy is low, keep me going. When my heart isn’t in it, keep me trying, please.
