Read: 1 Peter 3:7
Often, as women, we don’t understand what really makes us tick! If we don’t understand ourselves how can we expect a husband or any man to understand us? Sometimes tears come at the most inexplicable times. When we seek a reason for the deep emotional response, we are often amazed at the seemingly inconsequential trigger!
Men and women differ greatly in this area. Perhaps that is why God calls women “weaker vessels.”
A VALID REASON
Into my husband’s arms I crept.
He gave me comfort as I wept
And asked me what had made me cry,
But words could never tell him why
When even I did not quite know
What it was disturbed me so.
That morning I had heard a lark
And watched an old man in the park,
All hunched and huddled as he sat
Tossing cards into his hat.
I’d seen a child with his balloon
And heard an organ grinder’s tune.
I’d walked upon the hot concrete
And wished it were a field of wheat.
I’d seen the river water flow
And wondered where the boats would go.
I’d watched a young man wait and wait,
Then hug his girl when she came late.
Later on, as twilight fell,
I heard the tolling vespers bell,
And as I hurried down our street,
I longed to know someone I’d meet;
And then I’d seen a kitten die . . .
Ah, that was what had made me cry!
Prayer: Dear Father, help me to seek Your face when I do not understand my own heart. You are the one who truly understands both men and women.
