March 12th

Read: Mal. 4:2-3; Mark 8:22-25; John 1:1-14; Eph. 5:13-142 Pet. 1:19 and Rev. 22:5

Even as believers with the light of the Word available to us, we are like the blind man whom Jesus healed. We often see imperfectly at first, through a mist of old ideas and habits, or our old relationships with their shadows hinder clarity of vision. Self puts sunglasses over spiritual eyes, and Christ’s very person, although present with us through the Holy Spirit, seems indistinct and far away.

However, because of His great love and sure promises, Christ keeps shining into our lives. He seeks places in our hearts where His light may penetrate and shine unhindered. As we begin to open to Him, our vision clears and we begin to see Him as He is and the world as He sees it. Then we can begin to serve Him as He intends. No longer are we the blind leading the blind.

DAYBREAK
As the sun’s full morning glory
Splits the clouds to start the day,
Waking Earth to life and beauty,
Chasing hovering mists away,
So Christ’s light o’ercomes the shadows,
Piercing through where sin holds away,
Opening hearts to life with rainbows,
Clearing doubts and fears away.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to allow Your light entry into the deepest, darkest places of my heart. Help me to act upon what is revealed there in obedience to You so that I may serve You better.
