For nearly fifteen years we have lived long distances from family members. My mother was in New Mexico during her last illness, and at her death we were in London, England. Right now we are two thousand eight hundred miles across the U.S. from our five children and ten grandchildren.
Even in the bad times in their lives, we found hope in God through much prayer. We have kept busy loving the folks to whom God has sent us and have remembered His command to go into all the world. God has been faithful in it all to answer the prayers of our hearts for our family’s sake.
One time while we were in London, He provided the funds for a trip for me to spend a month with Mother in a most miraculous way! When I had a recent illness, He took us to New York State before it struck so that we were with our children during the time I had brain surgery! He does for us more than we can ask or think when we call upon Him.
‘TIS HARD
‘Tis hard to be a long way off
When loved ones suffer ill.
It tests our faith, e’en when we hear
The Savior’s, “Peace, be still.”
‘Tis hard to know that other folks
Must so much burden bear,
Yet we can help as much as they
If we turn to God in prayer;
If we lay all their troubles
Before the Father’s throne
And leave them there, just trusting
That He cares for His own;
If we fill our hearts with loving
And yield to His great power,
Then surely hope comes flooding
E’en in the darkest hour.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for making hard times easier by putting us with family and friends who love us and whom we love. Help me to be available and willing to go anywhere when You call us to a task.
