December 25th
Read: Luke 2:41-52
Mary and Joseph were normal parents in spite of the miraculous circumstances of Jesus’ birth. Their emotions were just as yours are. Their joys and fears were the same. Mary was happy that the birth was accomplished. She and Joseph were proud of their boy and loved Him and nurtured Him, just as we would today (and have).
MADONNA
Holding Him closely, all warm ‘gainst her breast,
Mary rocks Jesus to sleep for His rest.
Cuddled and nurtured by her loving heart,
Vulnerable God-child His journey doth start.
See how her kisses are filled with sweet awe,
Pressed on her man-child born without flaw.
See how her body’s close circle doth bend
To fold Him in love, to warm, to defend.
List how her voice murmurs low in His ear,
Whispering, “I love you; there’s nothing to fear.”
See how her eyes glow bright with her joy
As, like all mothers, she watches her boy.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for these two special parents who raised Jesus. Thank You for my parents too.
