Read: Job 14:1-22; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Psa. 89:47-48; Hosea 10:12Ephesians 5:14-17

We are temporal creatures, subject to the ravages of time and circumstance, and even though, as believers, our inward man is renewed daily (2 Cor. 4:16) we all face death (Heb. 9:27) by appointment unless we are caught up to our Lord Jesus first. Nothing earthly will last for eternity except our spirits, some heaven-bound, others bound for the eternal darkness of Hell. At the cross of Calvary our guilt and judgement were laid on the Lord Jesus Christ. He became sin for us (2 Cor. 5:21) and took our punishment, death. The choice is ours; Life and blessing with God in Christ or death and cursing without Him. (Deut. 30:19-20)

THE COMPARISON
There’s beauty in a single leaf
As on the grass it lies,
And yet its life is all too brief;
Its beauty fades and dies.

The rose in loveliness doth bloom
To poets’ minds enthrall,
But its transient grace bespeaks the tomb
As petals droop and fall.

If every lovely thing should last
Through all eternity
And never fade into the past
To make a memory,

Then there would be no afterglow
Behind the setting sun,
And human hearts would never know
How fleeting time doth run.

Our God must somehow make us see
Earth’s beauty is but loss
And make us face eternity
As gain … at Jesus cross.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to choose life and blessing at every crossroad. Show me the path of obedience each time I arrive at one, then keep me on that path no matter what.
