February 27th
Read: 2 Cor. 6:1-2 and Matthew 19:13-15
As we reared our children it was our hearts’ desire to see them in full relationship with Christ and serving Him. Because each one had to come individually to Him, for God has no grandchildren, only children, we had no idea what to expect in this area.
We tried to rear them in the admonition of the Lord. We watched as time passed, and life experiences brought the world rushing in. We pleaded with our Heavenly Father for their souls. We watched as many decisions were made by them without God’s input. We drove them to church youth functions to encourage a healthy peer group and training in God’s Word. We watched as they chose mates outside that safe peer group.
As our Heavenly Father, God must feel about us as we did about them (and sometimes still do!). Time passes and we do little about connecting with Him. We are not careful to inquire of Him about our relationships or our choices. We take little sips of living water instead of slaking our great thirst at His deep springs.
CHILD OF MY BOSOM
Child of my bosom,
Why do you wait?
So much life is lost
While you hesitate.
Life, like a river,
Is passing you by;
Time waits for nothing;
‘Tis gone on a sigh.
Child of my bosom,
Come, drink ye deep;
Drink e’er the billows
over you sweep.
Child of my bosom,
I will provide;
Come, ’tis the moment …
You must decide.
Prayer: Dear Father, I don’t want to hesitate on the brink of life and blessings. Help me to drink deeply of You.
