A day’s work well-done is a joy to me. I enjoy seeing my freshly-ironed clothing piled neatly or hanging in a row. It is satisfying to see my garden weeded and productive. Enjoying our recently-cleaned home is a treat for me and my husband. It is wonderful to be able to enjoy the work of our hands as worth all the effort.
WORK
If you see God in everything …
In a lovely rose or bird a-wing,
If He is there within your home,
If you can hear Him in a poem,
If you can feel His warmth in love
And see His hand in stars above,
If you can hear His melody
In laughter’s sound or roaring sea,
Then you must know He’s there with you
In any sort of work you do.
He uses hands and mind and heart
In all the chores where you have part.
When you create or bake or mend,
Or plant and harvest crops, or tend
To cows, or work in mill,
You will know He’s with you still,
And you will work with greater power.
You’ll work with joy, forgetting hour,
Until the day its course has run,
And He will say to you, “Well done.”
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for productive work for my hands and mind. Thank You for strength to do it. Help me always to do it as unto You.
