Read: Psalm 84:5-7 and Romans 8:37
One day I watched a calf being born in a field. While it lay on the grass, its mother began to lick it, always using upward strokes. Soon it struggled to its feet. The licking continued, and the calf was encouraged all the way … up, up, up, by mother’s tongue.
God uses upward strokes of love too … folks who encourage us to stand on our spiritual feet and test new life, the Holy Spirit’s witness in our lives, and His Word with so many precious
promises. When I’m ‘down in the dumps’, God lifts me out. Praise His name.
OUT OF THE DEPTHS
Ah Lord, when strength and courage fail
And vale of tears o’erwhelmeth me,
When wickedness seems to prevail,
‘Tis then, oh Christ, I turn to Thee.
Your mercy works to my avail
As with Your upward strokes of love
You pull me on the ascending trail
E’er closer to my home above.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for Your strokes of love. Help me to recognize them and to be strengthened in my service for You.
