The Word of God, the Holy Bible, the rule of life for the Christian believer is still under attack after centuries of the enemy of our souls trying to discredit and alter it. He started his attempts in Eden, subtly leading Eve to disbelieve what God had said. He openly attacked the Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ, during His earthly ministry. Now he still uses both of these methods to draw seekers away from God’s truths. Satan likes the idea of majority rule. He employs even our American system of democracy to overrule God’s truths with the world’s logic as his tool. The world calls good evil and evil good. Sometimes even God’s own people do the same thing, because they do not completely trust God’s word.

WHY NOT?
Why can’t the Bible simply be
God’s Word throughout eternity?
Why can’t we all its pages scan
And simply find God’s wondrous plan?
Why can’t we just its glory see,
His way to cross life’s stormy sea?
Why search for errors made by man
In words which all the ages span?

Man’s reasoning will never find
With logic what is in God’s mind.
Faith is the only golden key
That e’er unlocks His verity.
Without it man must travel blind
And custom’s chains may ever bind;
And his deep-seated vanity
Will not allow him to be free.

In faith, believing while we read,
The Spirit comes to help and lead
And truth will teach and wisdom deep,
Enabling man to learn and keep
The treasure-find within his heart,
Not tearing meaning all apart,
But welcoming with childlike embrace
God’s Word of life and love and grace.

Prayer: Dear God, forgive us for man’s efforts to discredit Your Word. Forgive me when I step into that snare in my thinking. Help me to see Your truths clearly.
