Read: Matt. 28:20 and Hebrews 13:6
Jesus got involved with people. He invited two men home to His dwelling place and gained some disciples (John 1:35-51). He invited Himself to dinner at the home of a man He found sitting in a tree! (Luke 19:1-10) Zacchaeus was saved! He stopped to speak to a beggar outside of Jericho, a blind beggar who was being hushed by the crowd, and Bartimeaeus received his sight and followed Jesus (Mark 10:46-52). He sat next to a woman at a Samaritan well, unheard of by etiquette, and brought light to a whole town (John 4:1-38). He never turned anyone away. He even restored the ear of one of the soldiers who arrested Him! (Luke 22:47-51). How about you? How much do you get involved with other people and their problems?
WOULD YOU?
Would you turn swift away
In confusion and dismay
When a stranger says, “Good day,”
If Jesus stood there too?
Would you pass heedless by
When you hear a frightened cry
Along the path you ply If Jesus walked with you?
Would you close-bar your door
If a wanderer should implore
Food for a simple chore
If Jesus lived with you?
If you would have no fear
With Jesus’ presence near,
If your choice would be clear,
Then why not trust Him now?
His love could make a friend
Or situation mend
His power doth safety lend
If you will but allow!
Meet unafraid life’s dares
For Jesus truly cares.
He answers to our prayers,
“Lo, I am with you now.”
Prayer: Dear Father, I am so thankful that Jesus reached out to me. Help me to reach out and get involved with others.
