February 3rd

Read: Psalm 23:1-6; Psalm 116:15; 1 Corinthians 13:12; 1 Corinthians 15:51-57

Someone has said succinctly, “Death is a fact of life.” To the saints of God death is more than that! Death is the gateway from mortality to immortality when we go through Jesus Christ. It is the dividing line between corruption and incorruption when we wear Christ’s robes of righteousness. To the true believer death should not be a fearful thing. Sometimes the trail to its gate takes us through troubled times, but God’s promise is that He will be with us even then.

SUNSET, SUNRISE

As I look over the sunset hills
And darkness fills my eyes,
I know that even as I gaze,
Some soul sees new sunrise.

Though the stretch between is unknown to me,
There’s a path through that alien land.
I know that when I walk that way,
I’ll hold my Savior’s hand.

And when I’ve traveled the darksome trail
In safety, by His grace,
I know that the morning sun I see
Will be my Savior’s face.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for the assurance of Your presence in all of life’s trials, even the final one. Help me to trust You fully all the way.
