May 5th
Read: Genesis 43:26-30; Psalm 78:38-42
Sometimes words just will not pass our lips. I have discovered that that’s the moment to pray, to reach out toward God for His guidance in the proper action toward that other person. It may be a hug, tears, a touch on the shoulder or hand. It may be a pot of soup or an invitation to lunch. It may be a smile of encouragement or a note when you’ve arrived at the right words. Prayer will not only guide you, it will also help to ease the situation by activating God’s involvement. How wonderful that God can read our hearts and help us to reveal them to others.
WHERE WORDS FAIL
When you’re so moved that words may fail,
Another heart discerns
That deep emotion doth prevail,
And heart to heart then turns;
And though there are no words to share,
Those love thoughts then translate
Into a swell of lifted prayer
Those caring hearts create.
And each is soothed; and each doth touch
And, touching, each one learns,
“Tis only when you care that much
That your whole being yearns.”
Prayer: Dear Lord, Your compassions do not fail. When I know compassion for another, show me how to express it for Your glory.
