Negativity is my worst enemy! Yours too! It is a denial of our faith in God’s goodness and in His involvement in our every-day lives. When I remember that He will never leave me nor forsake me, I am able to look at any circumstance with a positive outlook.
THE GARDENER
Negative thoughts are the weeds
That spring to full-blown flower,
Spreading their stubborn seeds,
When I neglect prayer’s power.
They grow without restraint;
Their strangling roots invade;
Their pungent odors taint
The garden spot God’s made.
I must search well and see
The thoughts of bitter doubt,
And then must ruthless be
To let God weed them out.
What I permit to grow
Is under my control,
But when God wields the hoe,
He cultivates my soul.
And when I seek my knees
To ask His help in prayer,
There spring forth kindly trees
And fragrant blossoms fair.
Positive thoughts are the flowers
That fill the prayer-bent heart.
Sunny and bright are the hours
Spent in God’s garden apart.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for the garden of my mind. I know weeds are always being sown by the enemy of my soul. Help me to see each one and allow Your hoe free access.
