December 6th

Read: 2 Corinthians 8:1-5; John l6:33; Acts 14:22

This world offers tribulations, but Jesus offers His eternity of verdant valleys.

THE BEND
I climb the long and tortuous way
Up rocky crag, its steep incline
Menacing, filling me with dismay
Lest I should slip into the brine
That lies in waiting there below.

I dare not turn to travel back
On treacherous path o’er which I’ve come,
But forge ahead on uneven track,
Striving and toiling, weary and numb,
My footsteps wavering, halting and slow.

I look ahead to summit’s rock,
Outcropping black against the sky.
It looms o’erhead and seems to block
The way ahead, but doth belie
Its menace with surrounding glow.

There, as I gain precarious hold,
A pathway curves around the bend
And there, before my eyes unrolled,
Lies verdant valley to extend
Forever and forever so!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for bringing me through the tribulations and for my hope of Eternity with You.
