God’s Word says that the prayers of His saints are sweet incense to Him. He enjoys our prayers. He inhabits our praises for as believers we are spiritual Israel. Somehow in our private communications with God we are lifted from this mundane world to a spiritual realm which stills the heart, enhances the beauty about us, and then ushers us into the very throne room of our God. How blessed we are that He enjoys us in this way. What sort of incense are you?
THE SUBSTANCE OF PRAYER
The essence of all soft lovely things
Is breathed by the heart at prayer,..
The fluted note of a lark that sings
Its hymn on the morning air,
The fragrance of a field in June
Stretched bright under new-mown hay,
The cradle of a crescent moon,
The sky at the close of day.
The urgent pleas of the troubled breast,
And the strident cries of fear
Resolve somehow into love expressed
As the Spirit hovers near,
And all the beauty you’ve ever seen,
All grace you have ever known,
Distilled into glory’s brightest sheen,
Is gathered before God’s throne.
Prayer: Dear Father, I love You. My times with Thee are the sweetest moments of my life. Thank Thee for hearing my prayers and speaking to my heart.
