God is dependable. That is what James 1:17 means. When He makes a promise He keeps it. Remember Abraham and Sarah? Isaac was born from a womb that had been dead for years, because God had promised Abraham a son and many progeny. He has also made many promises to us as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
When we face change in the circumstances of our lives, when people’s opinions vary widely from our own, or when strife invades our peace, God’s promises come into play:
“I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.”
“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto thee.”
“In my Father’s house are many mansions … I go to prepare a place for you.”
We need to know His dependable promises and claim them as we turn in faith to Him.
“NO SHADOW OF TURNING”
Do circumstances rule your life?
Do folks’ opinions sway?
Do fickle winds stir storms of strife
Resulting in dismay.
Or does God’s hand manipulate
The bridle of your soul?
Is it upon His will you wait?
Is Spirit in control?
Ah, when a turning point appears,
Just seek His will in prayer.
His answer soothes away all fears,
“Lo, I am always there.”
Prayer: Dear Father, please take up the reins of my heart and help me to wait upon Thee for the answers I need in my life.
