December 8th

Read: Psalm 16:11 and Psalm 94:19; Isaiah 55:1-2

The things listed in the poem below may not be the things which bring delight to you. God, however, has given me all of these delightful things in my life from His great heart of love. As I respond to Him and His delights in my life, I know not only delight, but encouragement that His presence is ever near me and working on my behalf. He knows what delights you too. If you cooperate with Him in your life, you will be sent delights as well.

DELIGHT
Delight is the hug of a child
And his kiss moist and warm on the face.
Delight is the wind, high and wild,
And the sun’s all-surrounding embrace.

Delight is the scent of fresh bread
Or aroma of newly-mown hay.
Delight is the comfort of bed
At the close of a long, busy day.

Delight is a smile in the eyes
And laughter to share with a friend.
Delight is the bright blue of skies
Where tall clouds their stately way wend.

0, what lights the spark of delight?
‘Tis love, pure and deep in the heart.
0, who gives clear view to the sight?
‘Tis God, where delight and love start.

Prayer: Dear Father God, thank You for all of the delights in my life, for they all come from You. Please Father, show me more.
