June 28th

Read: Isa. 55:10-11; Psalm 97:11-121 Cor. 3:6-7

When a Sunday School teacher gives her all for her class, she is planting seeds. When a parent reads Bible stories to a child, seeds are being planted … seeds of light, the light of God’s Word. Miss Shaver, my junior department Sunday School teacher, insisted that we all memorize sections of Scripture: Psalm 1, Psalm 23, Psalm 100, the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20, and the Beatitudes in Matthew 5. They have never left my thinking! Each one shed light on my life. I told you about Psalm 1 on June 24th. Psalm 100 taught me to be thankful and full of praise. Psalm 23 taught me to trust my Lord for everything and to have a personal relationship with Him. The Ten Commandments revealed my sinfulness, and the Beatitudes showed me my purpose in life. Miss Shaver sowed the seeds; others watered; but God gave the increase just as He promised.

SEEDS OF LIGHT
As a tiny seed is planted
In the faith that it will grow
And become what is expected
As time and seasons flow,
Our seeds of light are scattered,
The love thoughts that we sow,
Ideas we have planted,
The heart gifts we bestow.
All must with faith be offered
For we may never know
How God’s increase develops,
Just that it will be so.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the light of Your Word and for the seeds of light planted in me. Show me how to be a sower for You.
