Read: John 14:1-31

In regarding Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel painting, The Creation, one cannot help but focus on the hand of God reaching to touch fingers with Adam. Even as He breathed life into Adam, His desire was to fellowship with His creature. God’s own spiritual imprint was imparted to man. (Gen. 1:26 -27)

When man followed his own inclination rather than God’s instructions, fellowship was broken by that sin of disobedience. The result was judgement and loss of spiritual contact with God unless blood was shed for the remission of sins. That is what the Jewish sacrificial system was all about. When Jesus’ blood was shed for the wages of sin, fellowship with God was restored on condition of faith in Jesus Christ as the sufficient sacrifice once for all.

Because of ‘the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world’, my fellowship with God can be deep and very personal the way He intended it to be in the beginning.

THE TRYST

When my mind meets God’s mind,
Then truth doth impress
Its light on my being
And my sin I confess.

When my hand meets God’s hand,
Great strength He bestows;
His Spirit enables
And my faith ever grows.

When my heart meets God’s heart,
Then power doth blaze;
Great visions erupt
And their scope doth amaze.

When my soul meets God’s soul,
Communion is sweet;
I learn love and mercy
At Christ’s nail-pierced feet.

Ah, when I would meet Him,
Our tryst is in prayer;
I just speak His name
And His presence is there.

Prayer: Dear God, I want our fellowship to be unbroken. Please help me not to grieve Thy Holy Spirit because of sin nor to quench Him because of disobedience.
