GOD’S OPPORTUNITY
When God doth call a human heart
To work for Him and be a part
Of His great plan for now and here,
He doth not always make it clear
Just what that task for Him must be;
He leads to opportunity.
Sometimes ’tis service in that band
Who takes God’s Word to distant land
So all the world may know His love
And that He watches from above.
He needs all kinds of help out there
Where missions teach and heal and care.
God’s call would mean a different thing
To one whose talent is to sing.
Those folks whose gift it is to preach
Or others who may know to teach,
In local church may tell His Word,
Exhort to life and undergird.
For most of us ’tis not so plain,
When we see suffering or pain,
Just how our meager gifts can be
A use for opportunity.
But God knows best; on that depend.
He’ll help us serve a suffering friend.
If we submit our stubborn will,
He’ll shape and mold our hearts until
We forget self and clearly see
We do have opportunity!
He needs all kinds of help right here
To lead someone to love from fear.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You that we can be useful to Your work here on Earth and that we are instructed in Your Word to get involved with people in order to help them. Show me Your opportunities so that I will not overlook them, then help me to ‘buy them up’ for You.
