March 25th
Read: Joel 2:28-29; John 6:10-12
When Jesus fed the five thousand and there were fragments left over, He bade His men to gather them up in baskets so that nothing would be wasted. I don’t like waste any more than God does, so I’ve learned to gather the good things of life; positive thoughts, moments filled with love, sweet memories, sunny times, songs, relationships which edify both parties. I should not be surprised when I find Jesus in each basket, but sometimes I am. Sometimes I forget that all good flows from Him.
GATHERING LIFE
Gathering thoughts to make a dream
I search for the sweet and fair;
Gathering love for its central theme
I search and find You there.
Gathering buds to strew the road
I find them where’er You’ve passed.
Gathering friends to share my load
I find You are unsurpassed.
Gathering memories on my way
I keep all the ones of You.
Gathering sunbeams bright as day
I still see Your light shine through.
Gathering music from the spheres
My heart shapes a song of You.
Gathering moments through the years
Each one doth my life renew.
Gathering hope for the days to come
I search in Your sacred Word.
Gathering truth from this worldly hum
‘Tis but Your voice I’ve heard.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord Jesus, for every precious part of my life, all the gathering-baskets filled by You. Forgive me for the times I fail to acknowledge You in it all.
