Read: Philippians 3:10-16 and Luke 9:57-62
The believer is no longer accountable for the past. Everything in her life which was given to God in repentance and confession has been washed away by the blood of Jesus. There should no longer be regrets and guilt coloring her life and shaping her decisions and relationships, which old memories retained may do. How blessed we are to have a clean slate.
FORGETTING WHAT IS PAST
Our God is now. He is today.
The child of God must never stray
From off the smooth and perfect way
Into the lanes marked,”Yesterday”.
In those dark places he will find
Nothing to satisfy his mind.
All former wrongs our God doth bind;
His child must leave them all behind.
The paths he sees marked, “Might-Have-Been”
Must never more be trod again,
For there he’ll find regret’s dark den
And cancerous thoughts that eat at men.
God’s child must never look ahead;
His feet the narrow way must tread;
His hand in God’s, he’s ever led,
His needs supplied, his hunger fed.
Prayer: Dear God, I thank You for the clean slate I have with You. Help me never to wallow in my past offenses, but rather to take Your hand for the future to which You lead me.
