October 8th

Read: Matthew 11:28 and 1 Kings 3:9

Only a very few folks in my life have exhibited a truly understanding heart. So many in whom I have confided have broken that confidence. So many have listened only half-heartedly and then given advice or an answer which showed their lack of understanding or even, sometimes, their lack of interest.

It is so wonderful in my relationship with Jesus to be able to share anything with Him in the knowledge that He truly loves me and cares about my burdens and has that understanding heart of a true friend.

UNDERSTANDING HEART
When afflictions come to plague,
When troubled seasons start,
Do you ever look for someone
With an understanding heart?

Do you try to tell your sorrows,
To communicate your pain,
Only to find you’ve shared your thoughts
With someone else in vain?

A sympathetic listener,
A truly receptive mind,
A friend to share your burden
Is difficult to find.

When earthly friend doth fail you,
When nothing’s going right,
Just share your load with Jesus.
He’ll make your burden light.

He understands temptation.
He’s been at death’s dark door.
He’s suffered pain and sorrow.
Yes, He’s been your way before!

Best of all, He’s watching
And waiting for your call.
He’s there with understanding heart
Ready to share it all.

Prayer: I thank You for Your loving and understanding heart, Lord. Help me to develop more love and understanding for the ones who bring their burdens to me.
