November 9th
Read: John 10:14-15
When I was in my early teens, there was a painting in my room of a flock of sheep huddled around a rugged cross during a blizzard. Some of them were looking up as if they sought the Shepherd there. This picture impressed itself into my mind so that my thinking was drawn closer to my Savior, the Shepherd of my soul.
He is a shelter from anything this world can throw at me. He is the shelter for the church, His body, too.
A SHELTER IN THE TIME OF STORM
The cold winds came
And sudden snow
Which scattered far and wide
The flock that bears
The Master’s name,
Far from the Shepherd’s side.
And when He came
To seek them out
So there would be no loss,
He found them huddled
`Gainst the storm
Around a rough-hewn cross.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me always to seek my shelter in You.
